Job opening:

Data Science Student Assistant

Hi there! We're Driversnote, a product-centric and profitable tech startup based in central Copenhagen. We help more than 900.000 users in over 50 countries track their mileage conveniently and accurately in a fully automated manner using our mobile app and, optionally, an iBeacon placed in their car. We are 16 people doing design, product management, mobile and web development, marketing, support and customer success in close collaboration.

How we work

We use a product development process known as Shape Up, where a few key people take the role as shapers and define projects that can be designed, implemented and released within 6 weeks, known as cycles. For each 6 week cycle, we form new cross-functional teams with designers, developers, marketing and customer support people on them, and we let the teams focus exclusively on finishing their projects within the cycle. Each 6 week cycle is followed by a 2 week cool-down period, where we fix bugs, execute functional projects, evaluate how we did and plan the next cycle.

We like to say that our unfair advantage is that we care more than our competition, and our users and customers tend to agree when they review our app, respond to NPS surveys and rate our support. We also care a lot about our employees, and between each cycle the entire company has a Team Health Check together, where we rate and discuss how we work together and thrive in our roles. We have a generous budget set aside for each employee to develop their skills, and we try to do a lot of fun stuff together.

We have fully embraced Google Cloud and have our comprehensive data warehouse in BigQuery. Many of us know our way around BigQuery and Google Data Studio, and we rely extensively on those reports to form decisions on all levels. With the volume of information our many users trust us with, there is a lot of new data to learn from every day.

The role

As a highly data driven and fast growing startup we have a team that is all able to use BigQuery and Data Studio, but also all have many other responsibilities. You will be our first employee who is first and foremost tasked with creating insights and learning from our data.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Restructuring and streamlining of our data warehouse and our data processing setup.
  • Assisting everyone in the company in creating reports and insights on an ad-hoc basis as needed for the projects we undertake.
  • Identifying and implementing new opportunities for learning and helping our users from our data.

Working hours are 12-20 hours per week, with flexibility built in to account for exams and school holidays. The work will take place in our office in central Copenhagen right next to the new Gammel Strand Metro station.

You

We imagine you’re studying a Data Science or IT related degree in or near Copenhagen, and we expect you have either completed the first year at your studies, or have at least some relevant experience from a previous job or study.

We’d like you to come with a “can-do” spirit, eager to help with anything we might throw at you and be ready to see how a popular, growing SaaS business really works from the inside.

You must:

  • Have experience with BigQuery or a similar SQL based data platform.
  • Have knowledge of data science, business intelligence and data warehousing from either previous job or your study.
  • Be detail oriented, highly structured and good at familiarizing yourself with complex tasks.
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English and have clear written communication skills.

It would be nice if you:

  • Have experience with Google Data Studio or similar reporting tools.
  • Have experience with or are interested in learning programming to aid your work.
  • Have worked at a tech startup before.

Danish language skills are not a requirement as our office language is English, but you must be able to work from our office in Copenhagen and have a Danish work permit.

What we offer

At Driversnote you will be part of a team composed of talented people that are fun to be around. Our office is part of the friendly startup community of Matrikel1 in the heart of Copenhagen, where we enjoy a great freshly cooked lunch every day, and networking and partying with other startups when times allow. Since many of us have spouses and kids that we enjoy spending time with, we can honestly say that we offer a healthy work-life balance along with a competitive salary and all the benefits you would expect.
